Since nobody is reading my reply to Pina's New York City speech thread, I've decided to post my reasons here:

Kerry will NOT win because he has made a common military mistake. He is REACTING to President Bush's campaign rhetoric. What do I mean by that????

Kerry's speech at NYU was all about Iraq, security, etc. and how he's do things differently. In fact, most of what I've heard Kerry talk about lately has been all reactionary to something the the RNC, Bush, Rove, et al. have put before the public. In other words, he is reacting to what Bush has done and Bush's campaign attacks against him. Kerry is on the defensive. It is common military strategy that if you can make your enemy react to your plan instead of you reacting to his, you will 95% of the time.

Kerry cannot and will not win unless he defines his own canadicay and makes W react to him. This has been the knock against Kerry from the get go. Nobody knows who Kerry is and what he stands for. The Republicans know this and they're exploting it for all it's worth and Kerry doesn't see it. Hell, I just now figured it out.

Kerry will lose in November. Bet on it!

Good points Jumper. Not sure if you knew this but FDR made it a cardinal point of every campaign as an incumbent to NEVER, EVER mention his opponent by name. He was dee-lighted to have his opponents mention his name constantly because he said people tend to forget what was said by election day, but they vote for the name they are most familiar with (any publicity is good publicity sort of thing). So I think your point is quite valid.

Kerry will not win because the United States is not quite ready to be a socialist country just yet...

    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Including John Kerry.

I keep hearing that he has "plans" for the economy and the war, but never bothers to say what they are.

I don't think Kerry will win because, in addition to Jumper's points, Kerry just doesn't come off a really likeable. Not that he comes off as evil or anything, but just kinda, you know, bland.

The only thing I hope for is that, with the write-ins on our prosecutor ballot, all the ballots in Hamilton County should be hand-counted (don't know if they will be). And, depending upon how things go, that means Ohio's returns could have to wait until late into the night.

And, that could me we could be the Florida of 2004.

God if we could only be so lucky. I love political chaos. LOVE IT

Kerry comes off like the rich snob that he is.

As I've posted before, I wish there were other candidates.

But, I also think that we folks in flyover country can't cozy up to Teresa Heinz Kerry with her gazillions and penchant for telling people to "shove it".

The gazillions are one thing; except for Reason, none of us are in the same tax bracket as Bush and Kerry. The Kerry camps utter disdain of the voting public is what will do him in.

We are to be the Florida of this election?

Okay, it is illegal for me to go on Ebay and sell my vote - how can I profit from my status as a voter who is currently planning to vote for neither Bush nor Kerry?

Good points, jumper. It does seem as though Bush is running as Bush, and Kerry is running as the anti-Bush. People are voting FOR or AGAINST Bush; I don't think people are voting FOR Kerry.

I think Kerry's campaign slogan should be: Vote for me, I'm not George Bush!
